2023 Filing Deadlines For Oregon And Washington Contractors

With a new year comes new deadlines to file, send, and post forms related to taxes and OSHA requirements. Here’s a list of important dates for the coming year.

January 31, 2023

It’s already passed, but if you haven’t sent out your W-2s and 1099s yet, you’ll need to do so as soon as possible. You can be penalized up to $580 per employee for sending W-2s out late. The penalty for not sending a 1099 form varies from $50 to $280 per form.

February 1, 2023

This one’s also passed, but you’ll need to post the hard copy of your OSHA 300A log from February 1 to April 30, 2023. This is the summary of reportable incidents, not the incident forms. It must be posted where employees can see it without asking for permission.

March 2, 2023

Companies with more than 20 employees are required to also file their OSHA 300A electronically with national OSHA by March 2, 2023. This is done through the ITA (injury tracking application) site. Penalties for not filing include fines up to $12,934 per violation and you will get added to OSHA’s targeted inspection list.

March 15, 2023

S-corporations and partnerships must file their tax returns for 2022, or apply for an extension, by March 15, 2023. An extension moves the due date to September 15, 2023.
