Description
The goal of our First Aid/CPR/AED class is for participants to gain or improve knowledge and skill proficiency in adult first aid and/or CPR/AED for adults. This program includes flexible instructional tools for developing proficiency via demonstration and prompted practice, including scenario-based problem-solving exercises with feedback.
This class is approved for 3 credit hours of Continuing Education credits with Oregon Construction Contractor Board

Requirements:
- Live Class – Student must have means of transportation to classroom facility (facility is ADA compliant).
- Student must bring valid, government issued, photo ID
- Course instructor will be available in person between 8:30am and 11:30am PST on the day of class.

Students who successfully complete the First Aid/CPR/AED training program will become certified as an American Heart Association (AHA) individual.
First Aid/CPR/AED reflects the latest resuscitation science and treatment recommendations published by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), and it conforms with the 2020 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC and the annual Guidelines Update.
“Hands on” CPR exercises included. Meets state law requirements. Certificate valid for 2 years.

Before Giving Care and Checking an Injured or Ill Person
- Describe how to recognize an emergency
- Describe how to prioritize care for injuries and sudden illnesses.
- Describe the purpose of Good Samaritan laws.
- Identify how to reduce the risk of disease transmission when giving care.
CPR/AED
- Recognize the signals of a cardiac emergency.
- Identify the links in the Cardiac Chain of Survival.
- Describe how to care for a heart attack.
- List the causes of cardiac arrest.
- Explain the role of CPR in cardiac arrest.
- Demonstrate how to perform CPR.
- Recognize the signals of a breathing emergency
- Demonstrate how to care for a person who is choking.
- Explain what defibrillation is.
- Explain how defibrillation works.
- Identify precautions to take when using an AED on a person in sudden cardiac arrest.
- Demonstrate how to use an AED.
First Aid
- Identify the signals of common sudden illnesses.
- Describe how to care for common sudden illnesses.
- Describe how to care for someone who is having a seizure.
- Identify the signals of heat-related illnesses and cold-related emergencies.
- Describe how to care for various soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries.
- Explain how to care for muscle, bone or joint injuries.
- Demonstrate how to control external bleeding.
- Identify signals of head, neck and spinal injuries.
